Why America Can NOT Afford Illegal Aliens

Why America Can NOT Afford Illegal Aliens

The immigration issue is hot news at the moment, especially since Democrats and the mainstream media decided to use a practice that’s been used during the past four presidential administrations. Did you know that the children of illegal aliens detained in the process of entering the US have been separated from their parents during the administrations of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama? In fact, some of those cages and chain link confinements we are seeing illegal alien kids in are the very same ones they were kept in during Obama’s 8 years in office.

Take notice that even after President Trump signed his executive order ending the separating of kids and parents, Democrats and media aren’t satisfied. Some have been honest enough to say they want open borders and they won’t be happy until that happens.

What they fail to understand is that America cannot afford to pay for the illegal aliens in the country now, let alone pay for any more.

Consider that based on 2010 figures, the 5,000 illegal aliens in North Dakota cost taxpayers $32,491,618 or an average of $6,498.32 for each illegal alien. I wonder what North Dakota taxpayers would say if they knew how much it was costing them to pay for all the benefits given to illegals.

South Dakota residents pay bit more for their 5,000 illegal aliens, paying $33,306,846 in just one year, for an average of $6,661.37 for every illegal.

Maine was also listed as having only 5,000 illegals in 2010, but the cost to taxpayers was $41,271,834 for an average of $8,254.37 per illegal. How many Maine taxpayers would rather see that money back in their own pockets?

In 2010, Washington DC held about 35,000 illegal aliens at a cost of $311,914,509 or an average of $8,911.84 per illegal.

I spent most of my life in Arizona, and in 2010, my beloved state had 390,000 illegal aliens (I believe that figure to be way low, but I’ll use it anyway). The cost to taxpayers was $2,568,668,603 for an average cost of $6,586.33 per illegal. I know that all my family and friends still living in Arizona would love that money be put back in their own pockets.

California is the biggie with an estimated 3,000,000 illegals (again I believe that figure is quite low). The cost to taxpayers was $21,755,953,468 for an average cost of $7,251.98 per illegal.

The total cost to US taxpayers in 2010 was around $83,778,000,000. Now consider the fact that the yearly cost to Ohio taxpayers in 2012 jumped from $563 million per year to $879 million per year. That’s an increase of $316 million (56%) in just 2 years.

In Texas, the yearly cost to taxpayers jumped from $8.878 billion per year in 2010 to $12.1 billion per year in 2013. That’s an increase of $3.222 billion (36.3%) per year in just 3 years.

In California, the yearly cost to taxpayers increased and jumped from $21.755 billion per year in 2010 to $25.300 billion in 2014. That’s an increase of $3.544 billion (16.3%) per year in just 4 years.

Figuring that there were only 136.6 million tax returns filed in 2011, that means everyone that filed a tax return was paying $613 a year to support illegals.

If we calculate just a 10% annual increase from the total 2010 figures to now, that would put the annual cost at approximately $92.156 billion per year to handle all of Obama’s illegals. Figuring an estimated 140 million tax returns filed in 2015, the annual cost to every taxpayer has increased to $658 to provide for Obama’s illegals. Many families are like mine with two taxpayers – my wife and myself. Our combined annual cost for Obama’s illegals adds up to $1,316. I don’t know about you, but that upsets and offends me. That’s a lot of money for our household and I’m sure it is to most of you as well.

That was then.

According to several sources, the largest concentration of illegal aliens is found in Los Angeles County. A recent report revealed:

“Illegal immigrant families received nearly $1.3 billion in Los Angeles County welfare money during 2015 and 2016, nearly one- quarter of the amount spent on the county’s entire needy population, according to data obtained by Fox News…”

“The sanctuary county of Los Angeles is an illegal immigration epicenter, with the largest concentration of any county in the nation, according to a study from the Migration Policy Institute. The county also allows illegal immigrant parents with children born in the United States to seek welfare and food stamp benefits.”

“Robert Rector, a Heritage Foundation senior fellow who has written extensive studies on poverty and illegal immigration, said the costs represent ‘the tip of the iceberg’.”

“He said the costs of education, police and fire, medical, and subsidized housing can total $24,000 per year in government spending per family, much more than would be paid in taxes.”

“‘They get $3 in benefits for every $1 they spend,’ Rector said.”

The bottom line is that illegal aliens are costing US taxpayers a fortune that few of us can afford to pay. Based upon the figures listed above, the total cost of illegal aliens has to have exceeded $100 BILLION a year. Not only are they responsible for increases in crime in areas of heavier illegal concentration, but property values plummet and many jobs are hard to find for Americans who desperately want to work.

No matter where you live in America, you are paying taxes to provide the many services and benefits given to the millions of illegal aliens. Many illegals receive free medical care but we pay for their care along with having to pay for our own medical care. Realize that you pay for illegals with local, state and federal taxes as well as sales tax and other taxes. Every time your local government asks for a sales tax increase, school tax increase or any other tax increase, part of that is due to them having to provide services to or because of illegals.

America cannot afford the 15 million to 20 million illegal aliens already here and we sure can’t afford any more of them. Economically, we MUST build the border wall and improve security. It would also be a huge economic boost to the economy to deport EVERY illegal that is here already.
